SEN. BONG REVILLA HOLDS THE RECORD AS SENATOR
WITH HIGHEST VOTES IN PHIL. ELECTION

SENATOR Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. now holds the record as the national candidate having the highest votes garnered in any Philippine election.

As of the latest official canvass of the Commission on Elections, Bong Revilla got 19,414,795 votes.

Senator Mar Roxas used to hold the record with 19,372,888 votes when he ran for senator in 2004 election. Bong Revilla finished second in the same race.

The re-elected senator expressed elation on the overwhelming support of the people.

"I am so honored when I learned that more than 19 million people cast their votes on me. I do not see it as just figures that ensure me for another term in the Senate. I see these votes as number of Filipinos who have entrusted their future in us, a number of people whom I will be accountable for if I fail, but, nevertheless, a number of people who will also extend their hand in building a better Philippines," Bong Revilla said in an interview.

The senator, whose bills and laws he filed during the 13th and 14th Congress can be summed up to direct service to people, improving the lives and enhanced the livelihood of the people, vowed to formulate more laws that will equip people to accelerate development.

Earlier, Bong Revilla expressed his willingness to support the administration of President-apparent Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

He also appealed to his colleagues in the Senate to strive for harmony, stop bickering and set aside opposition-administration distinctions in order to set example to the people and encourage unity and healing.
