Press Release June 29, 2010 Trillanes sees end to RP's 'dark chapter' in Arroyo exit Senator Antonio Trillanes IV expressed optimism with the change in regime as Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo leaves Malacañang today to give way to President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III. "Filipinos can finally look forward to closing that dark chapter in our nation's history," he said. But Trillanes, who remains detained at the Camp Crame Custodial Center for opposing the alleged corruption of the outgoing Arroyo administration, clarified that GMA should be prosecuted for what he once described as the government's "crimes against the people." "Prosecuting GMA will rectify the historical aberration and be a deterrent to corrupt leaders in the future," he added. "However, the more important task right now is to rebuild our country; to do this, we need to unite our efforts in supporting our new president, Noynoy Aquino. Ultimately, his success is ours, too," Trillanes said. |
