TRANSCRIPT OF AMBUSH INTERVIEW WITH SEN. DRILON

Q: Sir kasama ka sa meeting?

DRILON: Anong meeting?

Q: Mamaya daw yung meeting with Senator TG, ipe-present daw niya yung committee report.

DRILON: I don't know.

Q: Tama ba yun sir na wala pa sa plenary pero ipe-present sa Presidente?

DRILON: He is presenting a committee report. It is a partial committee report. He is not presenting a report approved by the Senate. He is presenting a committee report.

Q: Okay lang iyon sir?

DRILON: Yes.

Q: There is nothing irregular about it?

DRILON: There is nothing irregular about it. It's already public record. The media already reported the committee report.

Q: He is furnishing the President sir?

DRILON: He is just furnishing the President a copy. The President can read the newspapers and he can get the substance of the report.

Q: Ni-request ba ni President yon?

DRILON: I would not know.

Q: Pero sir you have reservations regarding impeachment.

DRILON: I said I am in full accord with the report but express no opinion on the impeachment of the Ombudsman. I'm very clear on my position.

Q: Pero sir may sa propriety ng pagpapadala ng report?

DRILON: He is sending a committee report. He is giving the President a copy for whatever action the President wishes to take on the recommendations of the committee. It's like any recommendation being presented to him especially that there are portions which find probable cause to discipline the special prosecutor. It is the President's prerogative to exercise that option. There's nothing wrong with a senator presenting a report to the President.

Q: Common practice yun sir?

DRILON: There is nothing unusual about that.

Q: Sir kung hindi pa na-enroll sa Bills and Index?

DRILON: It is a committee report. It is not a report of the Senate.

Q: Pag hindi pa na-enroll sa Bills and Index, okay lang?

DRILON: It is not a report of the Senate. It is a committee report. A committee report is not enrolled in the Bills and Index of the Senate... I think that's clear.
