Senate commends Ruais for 1st runner up crown

The Senate approved today a resolution commending a Filipino-French International model for bagging 1st place in the prestigious 2011 Miss World pageant held in London last Nov. 6.

"The Senate commends Gwendoline Ruais for placing 1st Runner-Up in the 2011 Miss World Beauty Pageant and for giving honor to the country with her show of stunning beauty, commendable personality and exceptional intelligence," Senate Resolution No. 646 said.

The resolution, which was filed by Senate Pro-Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, praised Ruais for her beauty and for being an empowered modern-day Filipina.

Ruais, 21, vied against 113 women for the Miss World Crown and the opportunity to represent the Miss World Organization and its various charitable causes.

An international model from Makati City, Ruais graduated from the Southville Foreign University having earned a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Business Management under a program of the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom.

"The Miss World Beauty Pageant is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants which has repositioned itself with the slogan Beauty with a Purpose. Ruais made very Filipino proud when she was crowned Fist Runner-Up," Estrada said.
