ANGARA LAUDS PHILIPPINE-JAPAN STRATEGIC RELATIONS

Senator Edgardo J. Angara today lauded the strategic relationship between Japan and the Philippines during the Bilateral Meeting of the Philippine-Japan Parliamentarians Association (PJPA) and the Japan-Philippines Parliamentarians Friendship League (JPPF-L) at the Manila Hotel.

Fifteen parliamentarians from the National Diet of Japan are in the country for an Official Visit from May 3 to 6. The delegation is headed by Senator Hajime Ishii and Honorable Kenji Kosaka.

Describing it as a "strategic alliance between partners," Angara, expressed appreciation for the strong support shown by Japan to the Philippines within the relatively short time they have forged said partnership.

"Indeed, we have seen the support assistance and the reciprocal help we've given each other in this strategic relationship within this short amount of time," said Angara. "We find that in the ODA, and the opening up of trade and investments in the country from Japanese investors and market to our Filipino traders, among many others."

"I hope we can maintain this level of strategic alliance which we need in this part of the world," said Angara, currently Secretary of the Philippine-Japan Parliamentarians Association, which he founded in 1988.

Angara also expressed his gratitude to the Japanese Parliamentarians for their warm reception of the Philippine Delegation during the 20th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Tokyo, Japan this January.
