On Senator Trillanes

SP: I did not provoke this. The record will show that I was quietly presiding then suddenly I was being attacked.

Q: Sir, mayroon siyang sinasabi na may mga concessions daw kayo...

SP: Isiwalat niya kung may concession ako. Alam mo, kung anu-ano ang sinasabi niya. Kasuhan ko siya, may concession daw ako kay Gloria, ngayon ko lang narinig na si Gloria ay kasama raw sa CamSur problem. Alam mo, panlalabo na lang 'yun. Sa katunayan, ang puntirya niya para mawalan at kalimutan 'yung headline kahapon ng Philippine Daily Inquirer, 'yung problema nila ng Department of Foreign Affairs.

Q: Sir, matagal niyo ng hawak 'yung notes ni dating Ambassador Brady?

SP: Matagal na 'yun. It was after the Cabinet meeting in Malacañang, noong minura niya si Secretary Del Rosario.

Q: Pero sir, kahapon, ready na agad 'yung notes?

SP: Dahil nga narinig ko na magdedeliver siya ng privilege speech. Akala ko ang subject matter ng speech niya ay tungkol kay Secretary Del Rosario. I was going to confront him with that note. Marami 'yun. Isang envelope 'yung dokumento na 'yon. This guy is dangerous for the country.

Q: Sir, first time niyo na experience?

SP: I have been in government. This is the first time that a senator is talking to another country about a matter that is disputed.

Q: So sir, walang malalabas si Senator Trillanes about sa sinasabi niyang concessions between...

SP: Let him. If they take me on, I'll take them on. Maiwan ang maiiwan.

Q: Sir, kung may mag-initiate na pagbatiin kayong dalawa?

SP: No, I don't have time for a man like him.

Q: Sir, 'yung sinasabi niyo dati na may plans to oust you?

SP: It doesn't matter to me if I will be ousted today.

Q: Sir, siya nga 'yun, the one who was unhappy with your leadership?

SP: Ikinakalat niya 'yun after 'yung meeting sa Malacañang.

Q: So, you're referring to Trillanes na nga?

SP: Yes. There was a reporter present when he was talking. I will not mention the reporter who made a report to his religious group. I talked to somebody who is a confidante of the head of that religious group because he was bragging.

Q: Bragging about what, sir?

SP: He was bragging that he was hurt because I talked in the Cabinet. I said who authorized you to make a negotiation with the Chinese?

Q: Sir, what about 'yung phone call po from GMA? Totoo po bang tinawagan kayo?

SP: I have no phone call from GMA.

Q: Never din po ba na may nagpadalang representative from her camp para ma-push 'yung bill?

SP: There was none and in fact, this is my first time to learn that the former President is interested in CamSur. I don't think that there is any senator here who knows that the former President is interested in the division of CamSur. This is strange information to us which makes me believe that Trillanes is lying and he is using this in order to cover his ass.

Q: Do you have any information if Senator Trillanes is going around and convincing other senators to oust you?

SP: He can go around. It doesn't matter to me. Let the people judge.

Q: Pero mayroon na po ba kayong information na kumakausap siya ng ibang senador?

SP: It's not of my interest. I don't care whether he's talking to anyone. He can go ahead and if he wants to elect himself as Senate President, by all means.

Q: Sir, hindi ba kayo 'yung tumulong sa kanya para makalabas siya ng...

SP: Baka sabihin niya naniningil ako. Kung hindi dahil sa akin, nandoon pa rin siya, nabubulok sa Camp Crame.

Q: Sir, bakit sabi niyo sa eleksyon niyo na lang po siya sasagutin? Ano po 'yung ibig niyong sabihin?

SP: I'm going to bring this to the people and tell the people about this man, who he is, what kind of senator he is, what kind of a military officer he is, the hazard he is creating for this country.

Q: So, do you think that it would have adverse effect on his re-election bid?

SP: I don't know. We will find out. Palagay ko, kompiyansado siya.

Q: Sir, hinahamon kayo ni Senator Trillanes na kasuhan niyo daw siya.

SP: Hindi ko pag-aabalahan 'yung tao na 'yun. I have better things to do. It's not worth my while.

Q: Sir, siya 'yung tinutukoy niyo na isang tao na hindi happy sa inyo noong time na may shake-up, may coup plot?

SP: Siya ang nakikipag-usap sa mga reporter. Dapat sinasabi niya sa akin na gusto niyang maging Senate President. Ibibigay ko sa kanya kapag mayroon siyang suporta.

Q: Sir, 'yung allegation po niya na kinausap po kayo ni former President Arroyo...

SP: Hindi ako nilapitan ni President Arroyo o President Aquino tungkol sa CamSur. Hindi ko alam at palagay ko walang senador na nakakaalam na interesado si President Arroyo tungkol sa paghahati ng probinsya ng Camarines Sur. Ako ay walang interes sa paghahati na 'yan kaya lamang, dapat pagbotohan dito sa Senado para malaman ang desisyon ng Senado dahil ultimately, ang maghuhusga diyan ay mga taga-Camarines Sur. Hindi kami sapagkat sila ang magbobotohan kung hahatiin nila 'yung probinsya. Sa aking paningin, mawalang-galang, dapat bigyan natin ng pagkakataon 'yung mga tao sa Camarines Sur na mag-decide kung gusto nilang hatiin 'yung probinsya nila o hindi. 'Yun lang naman sa akin.

Q: Sir, why would he drag the name of the former President in this controversy?

SP: Siguro gusto niyang gamitin 'yun para lumabo 'yung usapan. Sasabihin niya na kontra siya kay GMA. Okay lang 'yun kung kontra siya kay GMA. Hindi ko tinatanggi na ako ay kaibigan ng dating Pangulo ng Pilipinas. Kaibigan ko lahat 'yung mga dating Pangulo ng Pilipinas. Wala akong kaaway dahil tumutulong ako kung ikabubuti ng bayan. Sumasalungat ako pag makakasama sa bayan. Ganoon ako. Ewan ko sa kanya kung anong klaseng politiko siya.

Q: Sir, sinasabi niya na bully daw po kayo kasi sinasagasa...

SP: Nasa inyo na 'yan kung nakikita niyo na bully ako rito. Nandito kayo araw-araw di ba? Alam niyo ang ugali ng bawat isa rito sa amin.

Q: Sir, sabi dapat daw mag-apply siya ng authority to travel?

SP: Lahat ng senador, kahit magbibiyahe ka ng pribado, ay kailangan na may travel authority ka from the Senate President. Mula pa ng panahon ni Quezon 'yang reglamento pero hindi niya sinusunod 'yon. Ewan ko kung bakit sekreto 'yung biyahe niya sa Tsina.

Q: Pero sabi po niya, sir, utos daw po ni Pangulo?

SP: Hindi ko sinasabi na hindi utos ng Pangulo pero ang balita ko naman, siya ang nagpresinta. Dahil kung mag-uutos ang Pangulo naman, nandiyan naman 'yung chairman ng Committee on Foreign Relations ng Senado na nakakaalam ng mga problema natin sa mga relasyon natin sa iba't-ibang bansa.

Q: Sir, 'yung travel po niya, walang pahintulot sa inyo. Lumabag po sa Rules ninyo. May gagawin po ba kayo rito?

SP: Bahala na. Hindi namin pag-aaksayahan 'yun. He's not that important to me.

Q: Sir, sabi niya kasi personal passport niya ang ginamit at hindi diplomatic...

SP: Kahit na.

Q: Sir, kakausapin niyo po ba siya or magre-reconcile kayo soon?

SP: I have no time for a man like him. I'm not a hypocrite. You take me on, I'll take you on. If you win, I'll submit to you.

Q: Sir, 'yung state secrets daw na binasa niyo kahapon...

SP: State secret? Anong state secret doon? It was not even classified. He does not know what he is talking about. You know, this guy is teaching me about national security. I've been 17 years in-charge of national security and foreign relations of this country. I've dealt with presidents of other countries, not a man like him.

Q: Sir, nagulat ba kayo na ginawa niya sa iyo 'yon?

SP: Hindi ko akalain na mumurahin ako dito sa plenary session sa Senado. Kung may galit siya sa akin, dapat hinarap niya ako.

Q: Pero kinausap niya ba kayo dati na hindi siya happy sa inyo?

SP: Noong araw, nagpupunta sa akin 'yan at nagmamakaawa na tulungan ko siya.

Q: Sir, 'yung additional budget na hinihingi niya sana na hindi niyo binigay, magkano sana?

SP: Hindi. Ang hinihingi niya, bigyan siya ng additional committee. Hindi ko naman siya mabigyan ng additional committee. 'Yung mga committee na 'yon, may personnel 'yon, di ba? So, ang ginawa namin dahil kinukulit niya kami, kinukulit ako, we organized an oversight committee for him. Pinondohan naming ng P10 milyon.

Q: Sir, anong oversight 'yun? 'Yung government procurement po ba?

SP: Hindi ko na alam kung ano 'yung kanya. Pagkatapos, gusto niya mapwesto siya sa Senate Electoral Tribunal dahil miyembro siya ng bloke namin, dapat sa apat na senador, isa ang representation sa Senate Electoral Tribunal. Siya ang pinadala namin para mabigyan siya ng pribilehiyo dahil siya na nga ang huling dumating dito para matulungan siya. Kaya andun siya. Ngayon, lumipat siya sa ibang grupo, dapat lang na mag-resign siya doon.

Q: Sir, what's next? Hanggang saan makakarating to...

SP: Ewan ko. Siguro dadating ito sa eleksyon.

Q: Anong plano niyo sa eleksyon?

SP: Bahala na. Just listen when I speak before the campaign platform in the country.

Q: Matatakot po ba siya dapat, sir?

SP: Ewan ko.

Q: Sir, you'll campaign against him?

SP: No.
