COMELEC, NAMFREL, SWS, SMARTMATIC HEADS GATHER
FOR PH ELECTION FORUM

On January 29, 2013, the who's who of Philippine election agencies and organizations will gather for a momentous Roundtable Discussion on Electoral Reform, hosted by the Angara Centre for Law and Economics.

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr., National Citizens Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) Chairperson Corazon de la Paz-Bernardo, Social Weather Stations (SWS) President Mahar K. Mangahas and Smartmatic Asia Pacific President Cesar Flores Zavarce will come together to discuss the automation of Philippine elections, electoral fraud and other election-related topics. The event, to be held in Metrobank-owned Park Metro in Pasay City, will be attended by leaders in government, industry, academe and civil society.

The RTD will feature presentations from respected American scholars Dr. John Nye from the Mercatus Center of George Mason University and Dr. Alberto Simpser of the University of Chicago.

"The goal of the RTD is to bring together the top people involved in Philippine elections and to tackle important issues that can translate to tangible reform," said Dr. Emerlinda Roman, former President of the University of the Philippines and current Chair of the Angara Centre.

The Angara Centre for Law and Economics is the Philippines' first private-sector law, regulation, and economic policy think-tank, where the country's best intellectuals will work in tandem with global economic and legal experts to design constructive policy reforms and institutions for Philippine development.

The roundtable is co-sponsored by the Federal Land and the Metrobank Foundation, and will be held from 9AM to 12NN. To register, contact Averill Pizarro at 09178981707 or [email protected].
