Transcript - Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano on pushing for an independent audit
& on the perceived 'word war'

On pushing for an independent audit

ASC: I thank my colleagues in the Senate who are amenable to my proposal for an independent audit of Senate funds. I do not mean to pressure them but we should ask ourselves: How can we conduct a decent investigation in the future if our transparency and integrity as an institution is blurred with doubt in the eyes of the public?

Let's lead by example. That is what I am asking for.

At the same time, we also want to prove to our people that we are not hiding anything and that Senate funds are put into good use. I'm not accusing any of the senators. I am just pushing for transparency.

On the perceived 'word war'

So it's really up to him. Why is he talking about someone in another world when he does not want to talk about something that is happening now that will affect the people because it is their money?
