For Holy Week, Cayetano Stresses Love for Family

It was a weekend of celebrations as the Cayetanos trooped as one family not only to support Senator Alan Cayetano in his reelection campaign but to celebrate a birthday and a wedding anniversary as well.

Senator Alan and his wife Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary last weekend along with the rest of the Cayetano siblings - Senator Pia, businessman Ren and director Lino. The oldest of the brood, Senator Pia, also celebrated her birthday making it a double treat for the tight-knit family.

"We've always been close as a family. So when they learned that I had to go to Bicol for my campaign, they decided to all go to support me and to celebrate the wonderful occasions happening in our family," Senator Alan said.

Cayetano was in the Bicol region last weekend as part of his PTK Listening Tour - a series of events where he holds discussions with various sectors of Philippine society to learn of their needs related to PTK: Presyo, Trabaho, Kita. While in the region, he was able to talk to tourism operators and surfing instructors in Daet, Camarines Norte; elementary teachers and daycare workers in Naga; students of the Bicol State University and barangay officials in Legazpi, Albay.

For their anniversary, Senator Alan and Mayor Lani made a quick stop to Tiwi, Albay to pay a visit to Lani's paternal side of the family who hails from the region. They grabbed their favorite halo-halo at the DJC restaurant established by Lola Telet, Lani's grandmother.

Cayetano cemented his title as a family man as his love for his family shone brightly as he took time away from his busy campaign schedule to plan a small birthday celebration for his older sister Senator Pia with the help of siblings Ren and Lino. "These are the moments that are truly special to me. My siblings and I always have the best fun simply because we support each other no matter what," he said.

Cayetano underscored the need to preserve such values especially in these modern times when it is so easy to just take family values for granted. He urged Filipinos to take the time to just treasure their families and commit to upholding the values of respect, love, and faithfulness during the Holy Week.
