The May 13 election is crucial: Koko Pimentel

Re-electionist Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, a leading candidate for the 2013 senatorial race, recently described as crucial the May 13 national election and called on Filipino voters to turn out in full force at the precincts with the future of the Philippines in mind.

"We are facing a critical election that calls for the fullest exercise of suffrage, a power only freedom-loving Filipinos can discharge," Pimentel said.

Pimentel of PDP-Laban, running under the Team P-Noy ticket, said the May 13 elections will test the strength of democracy in the country and influence the quality of governance in the next decade.

A national leader representing Mindanao and the Southern Philippines, Pimentel is among the top 12 contenders for the next Senate, according to independent poll surveys.

Addressing the mass bulk of voters at the grassroots level, Pimentel said, "Vote freely and courageously. Reject bribery and money politics. Vote according to your conscience."

He asked the Commission on Elections to protect the sanctity of the ballot and dared Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes to stake his leadership on the integrity of the election.

He also challenged the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) to abandon low-level politics and offer the country honest options instead of false promises.

"A massive victory for the Team P-Noy will strengthen the fight against corruption, boost economic growth and employment, ensure effective governance, and pervasive law and order in the country," Koko Pimentel said.

"Vote Team P-Noy for the future of our children, education, unlimited job opportunities and entrepreneurship," Pimentel added.
