Trillanes tops other senators in providing funds to SUCs

Reelectionist Senator Antonio "Sonny" F. Trillanes IV has the highest allocation for student scholarships and professorial grants to the University of the Philippines among incumbent senators.

Trillanes, who is running under the Team PNoy, earmarked a total of P16.8 million for UP during the 15th Congress based on the report of the Department of Budget and Management on its website.

"I believe that each and every Filipino must be given the opportunity to have quality education. It is a right, not a privilege," said Trillanes, who is also an alumnus of UP. The young senator also finished his master's degree in Public Administration major in Public Policy and Program Management from the state university.

"I hope that through these scholarship funds, we will be able to help the poor but deserving students finish their education," Trillanes added.

Aside from UP, 68 state universities and colleges across the country have also received funds from Trillanes' PDAF, which can be found in his official website.
