Sen. Nancy Binay's statement on the National Day of Prayer

Prayer has always been part of our spiritual life as Filipinos--and in times of need, we turn to the power of prayer.

This National Day of Prayer, I encourage everyone to join the entire nation in praying for our countrymen who had been battered by calamaties and misfortunes in the past year.

Many of us have endured sorrow and despair by holding on to our faith. United in prayer, may the Lord give us the patience and fortitude to bear the pain of loss, the guidance and strength to endure the trials ahead, and the inspiration to restore hope in our hearts.

May we see the presence of God in every moment of difficulty knowing that, however profound, His plans for us are anchored on salvation.

With the monumental task of rebuilding lives and nation, it is befitting that all people of faith--regardless of religion--implore the Lord's divine help as we begin the process of renewal and healing.

Together in prayer, I am positive that our country will be able to muster the courage and strength to overcome the great challenges we are faced with today.

Let us pray for unity, calm and an end to intolerance and hatred--but let us not stop there.

Nothing is impossible in prayer.
