Statement of Senator Nancy Binay on President Benigno Aquino's Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) speech

It is the Executive's role to implement the law, and the Judiciary's to interpret the law. Somehow I get the feeling the President may have confused the roles of the co-equal branches.

The Supreme Court has ruled unanimously on the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

I am hoping that the DAP issue would not lead to a fight between the Executive and the Judiciary, something that the President hinted at in his speech last night. This will be counter-productive. Last two years na ni Pangulong Aquino.

On the same day as the President's speech, the Commission on Audit (COA) report questioning the Supreme Court on how it spent its savings was released to media. I hope this is not in retaliation for the DAP decision because if that is the case, the move can be seen as petty and vindictive.
