GUSI PEACE PRIZE 2014 AWARDEES

The Gusi Peace Prize is Asia's foremost awarding body and among the leading in the world today. It recognizes the most brilliant examples of those working toward the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity, and it brings out the best of human achievements, ideals and values.

It is a charitable foundation who's main objective is to recognize and give proper recognition through the conferment of awards of excellence and distinction to individuals or groups worldwide who have distinguished themselves as brilliant exemplars of society or who contributed toward the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity with the following categories such as follows: Academe, Scientific Research and Discovery, Physiology or Medicine, Chemistry, Physics, Journalism, Statesmanship, Philanthropy or Humanitarianism, Economics, Cinematic Excellence, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Engineering Technology, Religion, Politics, Poverty Alleviation, Literature, Cultural Heritage, Internationalism, Architecture, Archeology, Ecosystem and Biodiversity and Biology.

The expected arrival of foreign delegates, guests and laureates is November 23, 2014 and will stay in the Philippines up to November 29, 2014. The activities will include Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Luneta on the 25th and Awards Ceremony on November 26, 2014, among others. This year's laureates are:

1. Dr. Hans Koechler, from Austria, President International Progress Organization for Philosophy of Law.

2. Dr. Atiur Rahman, from Bangladesh, Governor Central Bank of Bangladesh for his contributions as a Poor Man's Economist;

3. Dr. Manson Fok, from China, Executive Director of the Henry Fok Foundation; Founder of the Pedder Medical Group, one of the largest private medical practices in Hong Kong and Macau; Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau (MUSY); President of the World Endoscopy Association; President of the Macau HealthCare Management and Promotion, for Medicine (Esophageal & Laparoscopy Surgery), Scientific Research, Healthcare Enterprise and Philanthropy

4. Professor Virima Mudogo, from Congo, a Chemical Scientist and Professor at the University of Kinshasa. In order to give his country an impulse of new dynamics and a new generation of excellent professors, he co-founded a world-wide unique cooperation project for Humanitarianism and Scientific Research.

5. Professor Gerhard Bringmann, from Germany, a professor and Head of the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Wurzburg who with his Congolese partners, launched the excellence scholarship program BEBUC which aims to break the vicious circle of overaging and decreasing scientific, quality of the academic staff and lack of excellent up-and-coming young scientists. 6. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, of India, Founder: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KILT); Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), KISS Foundation, India; KISS Foundation, UK for Poverty Alleviation thru Education and Humanitarianism.

7. Hon. Parviz Pargari of Iran, Founder of Pargari Design, Inc. an interior space planning design firm; has his own line of custom-designed furniture and has been designing European (French and Italian villas), Spanish and traditional California style as well as classic modern style homes in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Marina del Rey and LA. For his contribution in interior Architectural Design.

8. Dr. Luigi Pellegrini, Italy, holder of 100 year old pharmacy, at the third generation of family pharmacist, collaborate with "Pharmaceutical Technique and Legislation", chair on themes about innovation of pharmacist role on the territory at the State University of Rome, "La Sapienza"; Innovative services of assistance thru telemedicine. For Innovation in Pharmacy and Telemedicine.

9. Professor Yoshinory Asakawa of Japan. President, Phytochemical Society of Asia. For Academe and Research in Organic Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science.

10. Hon. Bhojraj Pokharel of Nepal. Former Chief Election Officer of Nepal, initiated "Votes for Peace" bringing the bullets to the ballots through electoral rock-dynamic policies of Nepal. For Conflict Transformation and Peace building.

11. Hon. Dominique Hoppe of Netherlands. President of the World Assembly of International Civil Service (AFFOI) or AFFOImonde. For Peace building thru development of political and diplomatic networks and activities supporting human rights and fundamental freedoms.

12. Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Republic of the Philippines. Current Philippine Senator, advocate of livelihood programs for the poor. For Social Impact.

13. Dr. Kazimierz Glowniak of Poland. Full professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Medical University of Lublin, Poland; Head of Department of Pharmacognosy with Medical Plant Unit since 1992; former Vice Rector of Science, Vice-Rector of Foreign Cooperation and Postgraduate Training, and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. 14. Hon. Saad Nahar Al-Baddah Almutairi, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Chief of Foreign Manpower Recruiting Committee, Council of Saudi Chambers. For Human Rights of Overseas Workers and Anti Corruption Advocacy.
