JV EJERCITO: SIGNING OF HIGHER TAX EXEMPTION CAP
ON BONUSES GOOD NEWS TO FILIPINO WORKERS

Senator JV Ejercito, co-author of the measure which seeks to raise the tax exemption cap on 13th month pay and other workers' benefits from Php 30,000 to Php 82, 000 lauds President Aquino for finally signing it into law, saying that this is good news to Filipino workers.

Ejercito was supportive of the measure which was passed by the Senate last year. He said that with the rate of inflation being faced by every Filipino family, this newly signed law which is an amendment to Republic Act No. 7833, means that the government is being responsive to the needs of its people.

The Senator who is the chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs notes that the price of goods, especially the basic commodities are not getting any cheaper, that is why there should be a balancing factor which could help the people withstand this. He said that the income exempted from tax can now be utilized by the workers for their basic needs and other essential expenses of the family.

"With the big contribution of every Filipino laborer and worker to the economic growth of our nation, it feels good and it is high time to push for legislations protecting and providing benefits for the work force", Ejercito said.
