Ejercito Supports Senate Findings on Mamasapano Incident

Senator Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito signed (via electronic signature) the 129-page committee report on the Mamasapano incident which took the lives of the 44 commandos of the PNP-SAF.

The Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, which led the investigation of the incident, released its findings on Tuesday after five public hearings and five executive sessions.

Ejercito lauded Senator Grace Poe for the outcome of the investigation. "Senator Grace Poe as chairman of the investigating committee firmly handled the issue. I believe we helped uncover significant and truthful details of the operation" Ejercito said.

Senator JV consistently speaks his mind on the issue, expressing his dismay on the administration's reaction and the accountability of those involved.

The Senator was satisfied with the findings of the committee, especially that the accountability of the President was upheld in the report. "I believe that what is crucial here is the owning up of responsibilities by the President Taking responsibility is a great display of leadership." he said.

Ejercito previously withdrew his sponsorship of the Bangsamoro Basic Law bill pending in the Senate. "They gave too much importance to the peace agreement with MILF than the lives of the beleaguered SAF 44 commmandos who were crying for help," Ejercito said.

Senator JV, however, said that he might introduce amendments as soon as plenary deliberations begin.
