JV EJERCITO APPLAUDS PNOY ENDORSEMENT OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION BILL

Senator JV Ejercito is applauding President Benigno Aquino III's endorsement to lawmakers to finally pass the Freedom of Information Bill.

"Thank you President Aquino for endorsing the passage of Freedom Of Information (FOI) Bill! Finally! This will be the instrument to attain genuine reforms and to continue the fight against graft and corruption," Ejercito, who is one of the principal authors of Freedom of Information Bill, today said.

Ejercito was one of the lawmakers who got frustrated by Aquino's failure to mention the FOI Bill, among other issues, in his last State of the Nation Address.

Though the decision seemed belated, Ejercito commended Aquino for conclusively instituting reforms and pushing for good governance and transparency, a platform from which he won the 2010 presidential elections.

"I don't know if it was a last minute decision or if they bended on the expectation of Filipinos. Truly the impact would've been larger if President Aquino announced the FOI endorsement in his last SONA. But no matter, the FOI bill will now change the way our government works. This may be President Aquino's best legacy," he said.
