Sen. Bongbong Marcos takes break from VP bid preparations to show support for mom

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos, Jr. decided to take a break from the thick of preparations for the biggest political challenge he is facing in his life to show his support for his mother, former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos.

The senator flew to Laoag City today to accompany Mrs. Marcos in filing her certificate of candidacy at the local office of the Commission on Elections for her third term as representative of the second district of Ilocos Norte.

The 86-year old matriarch of the Marcos family braved the swarm of media and political supporters when she accompanied her son last Tuesday at the main office of the COMELEC in Manila when the senator filed his own COC to run for Vice President in the 2016 elections.

"If you're running for the second-highest elective office of the land you have to make a lot of preparations. But that can wait. Family comes first," Sen. Marcos said.

Aside from Sen. Bongbong, also with Mrs. Marcos at the filing of her COC will be her eldest daughter, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.

Before filing her COC, Mrs. Marcos and her family will be hearing mass at the Immaculate Concepcion Church in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
