Transcript of Ambush Interview with Senate President Franklin M. Drilon in Cagayan De Oro City

Q: What is your reaction to the Supreme Court decision favoring Senator Poe's petition?

SPFMD: I have not seen the decision and therefore would not comment on it. All I can say is that I am glad that the Supreme Court already ruled on this issue.

As you know, we have made for the past several weeks a plea to the Supreme Court to decide on the case of Senator Grace Poe as soon as possible in order that the people will know who really are the candidates.

And until today, there was uncertainty that Senator Poe was qualified to run, and with this decision, the Supreme Court had presumably laid this issue to rest.

I am relieved that the Supreme Court has finally made a decision, and we can proceed with the election and choose the best leader for the next six years.

Q: On Supreme Court decision on voter receipts

SPFMD: Sana hindi po mangyari ang pinangangambahan ng Comelec na ito ay gagamitin para sa vote-buying. Yan po ang kaba ng Comelec.

Nagdesisyon na po ang Korte Suprema na dapat may resibo, sa akin this is part of the process, this is part of the systems of checks and balances, huwag lang sanang mangyari ang kinakatakot ng Comelec, but again, nasa tao po iyan.

Kung magbebenta po sila ng boto, eh wala po, iyan ay condemnable, at hindi dapat mangyari. Sana po itong resibo at paper receipt na nirerequire ay hindi maging kasangkapan na magkaroon ng paraan para sa vote-buying.

But we respect the decision of the Supreme Court and we proceed according to their decision as that is the rule of law.
