Bongbong Marcos top VP choice in Zamboanga del Sur

VICE Presidential candidate Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. has emerged the preferred choice for Zambangueños in the southern region according to a non-commissioned survey conducted by the Issues and Advocacies Center from March 4-6, 2016.

This developed as Marcos brought the Unity Caravan to various parts of Mindanao.

In the Pulso ng Pilipino survey composed of 350 respondents, 29% said they will vote for Marcos, a difference of 6% from Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero who posted 23%. Rep. Leni Robredo was at third place with 19% while Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano had 14%. Sen. Sonny Trillanes and Sen. Greg Honasan each got 7% and 5%, respectively.

Marcos was the top choice among the youth voters whose ages range from 18 to 35, representing almost 40% of the respondents.

For the presidency, Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterto topped the race at 31 percent, followed by Senator Grace Poe at 22 percent, Vice President Jejomar Binay at 19 percent and Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago at 4 percent.

The survey covered five towns in the first district of Zamboanga del Sur namely: Aurora, Labangan, Molave, Sominot, Tukuran and in Pagadian City. In the second district, the towns covered were Dinas, Dumalinao, Guipos, San Miguel and San Pablo. The aforementioned respondents were registered voters with ages ranging from 18 to 65 years old. Some 55% of those polled were female and 45% were male.

It has a 98 percent confidence and a maximum margin of error (MOE) of 3.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Marcos started his Unity Caravan in Mindanao addressing various youth groups in Brgy. Lagao in General Santos City. He will then proceed to Tupi, South Cotabato and then to Koronadal City and other areas in South Cotabato.
