SC DECISION, SURVEY RESULTS INSPIRE POE TO WORK HARDER

CANDELARIA, QUEZON--With the Supreme Court removing all legal obstacles to her candidacy and recent surveys showing her still leading the presidential race, Sen. Grace Poe vowed to work harder and go farther in the campaign trail.

Speaking at a press conference in Candelaria, Poe said that while she is thankful for the High Court's decision to allow her, a foundling, to seek the highest post of the land, she cannot be complacent in the race for Malacañang.

She said she must continue to bring the platforms of her "Gobyernong may Puso" to Filipinos in hard-to-reach provinces.

"Kahit sinong kandidato, lahat dapat magtrabaho at umikot at ipaalam ang kanilang mensahe kasi wala namang nakakasiguro dito. Nakita naman natin, kahit ano pwede mangyari," Poe said.

In the latest Pulse Asia survey done on February 16-27, Poe maintained her lead with 26 percent of voters choosing her as their president. With the favorable decision from the Supreme Court, Poe's numbers are expected to go up.

"When it comes to the survey, depende talaga 'yon sa mensahe ng isang kandidato at pagtanggap sa kanya ng mga tao. Kaya nga hindi kami pwedeng mag-relax," she said.

Poe and her running mate, Sen. Francis Escudero, who also tops the vice-presidential preference surveys, were in Quezon Wednesday, addressing supporters in Lopez, Tayabas, Candelaria, Lucban and Lucena in one day. They were joined by the senatorial bets under their Partido Galing at Puso.

Quezon, which has 1.12 million registered voters, was Poe's first provincial stop after the Supreme Court granted her petition to reverse the Commission on Elections ruling cancelling her certificate of candidacy for president in December.

The Court voted 9-6 in Poe's favor, paving the way for Poe and all foundlings to seek the presidency.

However, her detractors declared they would seek a reconsideration of the Supreme Court ruling. Poe only shrugged off their dissent and said she respected their right to voice their opinions.

"All those legal ramblings and all of those legal questions, I believe, were already settled by the Supreme Court. It's up to them if they don't believe it. You know, in victory, there should be magnanimity," the senator said.

Poe reiterated her promise to be a unifying president.

"Sabi ko nga, kung sino man ang mga nasa likod nito, hindi ako maghihiganti sa kanila dahil lamang dito sa mga ginagawa nila. Mas mabuti pang ituloy na natin ang mga gusto nating gawing kabutihan sa ating bansa. Siguro lahat tayo magkakasundo-sundo na lang doon. Pasensya na po na sinapit ninyo 'yan. Lahat naman po tayo dito ay nagdusa rin." she said.
