STATEMENT OF SEN. FERDINAND "BONGBONG" R. MARCOS, JR. ON COMELEC CHAIRMAN ANDRES BAUTISTA'S CALL FOR POSTPONEMENT OF THE MAY ELECTIONS AND MANUAL VOTING

The constitution is clear: it says that the elections are to be held on the second Monday of May. Furthermore, elections cannot be manual because the Automated Elections Law mandates the use of automated counting machines.

The mere fact that the Commission on Elections feel justified in flouting the constitution and the law leads many to suspect that this is opening more opportunities for abuse and cheating. We must not allow this to happen. We must maintain the integrity and the credibility of the electoral process.
