BONGBONG MARCOS LAUDS PNOY'S ANTI-CORRUPTION
DRIVE BUT DECRIES ITS SELECTIVITY

Vice presidential candidate Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. has lauded the anti-corruption drive of President Benigno Aquino III saying it is his centerpiece program.

He, however, said while the President should be commended for making corruption as the foundation of his governance, he was not able to fully implement it because of its selectivity against those perceived to be opposed to his administration.

Marcos made the statement in answer to a query on what he considered to be legacy of Aquino during his sortie in Tarlac City.

"Palagay ko ang anti-corruption is his centerpiece program. Matagal na nating problema at ito mabuti naman at nailagay na pundasyon ng kanyang administrasyon ang kanyang anti-korapsyon drive," he said.

But he noted that there is still much work to be done in this aspect because it failed to give fair treatment to everyone perceived to be involved in corruption. "Marami pang kailangang gawin, at ayusin at kailangan pa ito palawakin (dahil dapat) maging pantay-pantay ang trato sa kahit na sinong sangkot o kasama na nasasangkot sa katiwalian sa pamahalaan. Minsan kahit napagsusupetsahan lamang, pagka-alyado ay hindi nagkakaproblema pero kapag kalaban sa politika e yun ang mga kinakasuhan," he said.

The senator further stated that corruption should be stamped out not only in government but in the private sector as well. He noted that institutions must be strengthened and the rights of the citizens recognized and respected for anti-corruption programs to succeed.

"Dapat pagtibayin ang ating pundasyon at kilalanin ang karapatan ng bawat isa upang pantay-pantay ang pagtrato upang kahit sino ang nakitaan ng katiwalian, malaki man or maliit, kakampi man o oposisyon, sa gobyerno man o pribado ay isa lang ang pagtrato," he said.
