Transcript of Ambush Interview of Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III

Senate President Koko Pimentel (SPKP): Huwag na tayo magwaste ng time or resources. If you have extra money, don't spend it for this destabilization efforts. Let's comply with that. Of course, when you comply with the law, wala naman pinapaboran itong gobyerno na 'to. Assessment of mining firms impacting the environment must be science-based. Hindi dapat siya subjective. Objective siya. Nothing to worry about. Just improve your mining operations.

I saw his presscon in Baguio. I was with him in his presscon yesterday.

SPKP: May kanya kanya na kaming interpretation dun, basta ako I heard what he said and I saw the pictures pala.

Q: Si Presidente doesn't agree with the committee report on the killing of Mayor Espinosa.

SPKP: I don't know if some of the senators will take into consideration the pronouncements of the President pero the better thing to do is to read the report and those who participated in the hearings and did some extra research should contribute their ideas during the plenary discussion.

And important to stress is that committee reports cannot be claimed to be findings or positions already. There is a process to be followed. Klaro naman yun yesterday and klaro din yun from the person who brought it up. She kept on highlighting that this is just a committee report.
