Senator Cynthia Villar opens up new road in
Las Pinas to shorten travel time

Senator Cynthia A. Villar yesterday inaugurated the Las Pinas River Drive, a new road in Las Pinas aimed at shortening the travel time to and from the city.

The inauguration was led by the senator, together with local government and barangay officials, officers of the different subdivisions in Las Pinas, representatives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the city's non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

"We would like to thank the DPWH for swiftly addressing our concerns of traffic and constant flooding in Las Pinas through this project. Through this new road, we are certain of a shorter and a more convenient travel time for the people of Las Pinas and for all those who travel to and from our city. More importantly, this new road and the other road infrastructure developments will make Las Pinas more attractive to investors," the senator said.

The Las Pinas River Drive is a 1,680 meter road along the Las Pinas River which traverses the Dona Julita Subdivision to Veraville to Camella Condo Homes then Orchard to Las Pinas Royale Estate passing by Golden Haven and the Villar SIPAG to C5 Extension Road. This new road is expected to cut travel time by as much as 30%.

Last July, Sen. Villar and DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu also inaugurated a separate project, the Phase 3 of The Zapote River Drive, a 5-phased road project with the similar intent of easing traffic congestion and reduce the incidents of flooding in Las Pinas. It covers a full kilometer of flood control structures and improvements covering Pegasus St., Moonwalk, Talon 5 to M. Alvarez Avenue and an additional 500 meters that extend to San Isidro Subdivision and Pamplona 1. Sen. Villar said that she will continue to work closely with the city government of Las Pinas and the DPWH to ensure that the traffic problems along the Alabang-Zapote Road will be completely resolved.
