ON THE RESUMPTION OF HEARING ON CHARTER CHANGE

Three former Supreme Court Chief Justices -- Reynato Puno, Hilario Davide Jr. and Artemio Panganiban -- and former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr. lead the 51 resource persons invited by the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes in a hearing on the proposed amendments to the Constitution on Wednesday, January 17.

The hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m. at the Recto, Laurel and Pecson Rooms at the Senate.

Senator Francis Pangilinan, chairperson of the committee, highlighted the need to hear the voice of wisdom of as many sectors as possible because the implications of a revised or amended Constitution are deep and far-reaching.

"No one chamber of Congress can do it alone. The changes should also come from the people," Pangilinan said.

Among the invited guests are justices and former members of the 1986 Constitutional Commission, members of the academe, representatives of sectors and representatives of the Executive branch.
