Senate lauds Tanauan Little League win in 2018 Senior League Softball World Series

The Senate adopted today a resolution congratulating the Tanauan Little League for their "sterling" performance making them the champions of the 2018 Senior League Softball World Series.

Voting unanimously, the Senate adopted Senate Resolution No. 842, introduced by Senator Joel Villanueva, chair of the Senate Committee on Youth.

Upon motion by Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, all senators present were made co-authors of the resolution.

In his sponsorship of the resolution, Villanueva said the Tanuan Little League team "gave our beloved country pride and honor." Villanueva said the league's pitcher, Royevel Palma, emerged as the star of the triumphant win after striking out 15 and allowing only two hits in all of the seven innings she manned for the Tanauan Little League.

"Let me say that Tanauan Little League's achievement is really significant because it is the very first title bagged by the country for 44 years of joining the league. It is also the first ever championship by a team in the tournament from the Asia-Pacific region," Villanueva said.

"The victory and the sterling performance of the Tanauan Little League in the 2018 Senior League Softball World Series is another testament of the world class talent of the Filipino people," Villanueva added.

According to the resolution, the team clinched the championship in the Senior Softball League World Series after defeating Southwest's Texas District 9 at Bruce Layton Field in Lower Sussex, Delaware. (JDC)
