STATEMENT OF SENATOR RICHARD J. GORDON ON THE DEMISE OF US SENATOR JOHN McCAIN

I am deeply saddened by the demise of Senator John McCain whose example of leadership, courage and commitment should be a beacon to everyone. I join the rest of the world in mourning his passing.

America lost a great statesman, who had served his country faithfully for several decades. Senator McCain fearlessly fought for what he stood for and what would be good for the majority.

We, as a nation, would never forget the important role that Senator McCain played in securing the recognition of the United States government for the Filipino veterans who fought under the American flag during the World War II.
