Statement of Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III on the passing of OPM legend Rico J. Puno

I am a big fan of Rico J. Puno. I grew up listening to his songs which became popular during the so-called golden era of original Pilipino music (OPM).

His was a unique voice. His talent versatile. I considered him to be a total entertainer.

I remember him singing "May Bukas Pa" in one of our campaign rallies in 2007.

With a singing career spanning three decades, he's one of the true Philippine pop icons.

He is a big loss to our music industry. He is a big loss to all of his fans. But his music will continue to be appreciated by us.

He will surely be missed.
