Sen. Joel Villanueva's statement on the recent signing of the National Bible Day

We welcome the recent signing of a law declaring the last Monday of January as a special working holiday in observance of the National Bible Day (RA 11163).

As one of the authors, we thank the President and our fellow lawmakers in both Houses especially the principal author and brother in Christ, Senator Manny Pacquiao, for supporting this proposal that will encourage the development of the moral character and spiritual foundation of the Filipino people.

The observance of this special day serves as a momentous and blessed event especially in our country which is a predominantly Christian nation.

This important piece of legislation does not only give due importance about reading and studying the Word of God but also recognizes the Holy Bible as the core of Christian faith.
