NIDEC SUBIC PHILIPPINES CO. CORPORATION SHOWS TRUST IN THE FUTURE OF RP'S ECONOMY - GORDON

Senator Richard J. Gordon hailed Nidec Subic Philippines Corporation's (NSPC) recent branching out into the production of reducer gears for robotics application, saying it shows trust in the future of the country's economy and its potential for business growth and development.

Gordon, who was guest speaker at the launching of the Japanese company's new production line, said it also shows that Nidec was greatly impressed with the skills and work ethic of Filipino workers, many of whom were sent to Japan for further training prior to their expansion.

"Now we are creating another frontier. It shows the trust and confidence of companies like Nidec in the capacity and the capability of Filipinos, in our government's consistency in our rules and regulations," the founding chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority stressed.

"This is one of the things that we prepared for when we converted this military facility into a commercial facility...This is not just about generating employment, this is not just about creating precision robotics to supply the whole world, the worlds hunger for quality instruments. I am happy that the Japanese people and the Filipino people could work together and create fantastic products that will be used mightily in other corporations in the world, in Germany and other parts of Europe," he added.

Gordon also expressed confidence that Nidec's expansion would show that other countries can also start exploring possibilities in the Philippines.

"This should be an omen for more Japanese companies to come here. They will spread the word na tayo ay magaling at magalang," he said. NSPC registered as a Subic Bay Freeport enterprise in 1998 after Gordon, who was then SBMA chairman and administrator, opened the Subic Technological Park Japan. It was initially engaged in manufacturing of precision electronic equipment, direct-drive spindle motors, baseplate, micro motors, for computer peripherals, VCR, and home appliances, optical heads for CD/DVD-ROMS/RAMS, magnetic card readers for bank system and such other high value added specialized digital core parts for multimedia.

Its parent company, Nidec Corp., a Japanese company based in Kyoto, is considered as one of the world's leading manufacturer and top seller of small precision motors, automotive motors, home appliance motors, commercial and industrial motors, motors for machinery, electronic and optical components, and other related products.
