De Lima outraged over death of 3-year-old girl caught in buy-bust crossfire

Opposition Senator Leila M. de Lima has expressed outrage over the Duterte regime's war on illegal drugs after it claimed another innocent life, a three-year-old girl who died days after sustaining a gunshot wound in a buy-bust operation in Rizal.

Last Sunday, Myka Dolorfino died after suffering a gunshot wound to the head after he was used as human shield by her father, Renato Dolorfina, on June 29.

The former justice secretary has repeatedly dubbed the government's war on drugs as a sham and a complete failure as it failed to arrest the entry of illegal drugs into the country and led to the deaths of thousands of Filipinos, mostly coming from the poor.

As of last count, the Philippine National Police (PNP) claimed that 6,600 suspects were killed in around 153,000 police operations since the government campaign against illegal drugs started. However, there were around 25,000 killings categorized under "homicide under investigation."

Being in detention for trumped-up drug charges filed by the administration has not prevented the lady Senator from Bicol from filing several resolutions seeking to investigate the thousands of deaths emanating from the Duterte's all-out war on drugs.

In addition, she has called on the international community, especially the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), to look into the rampant killings emanating from Duterte's war on drugs.

In the 18th Congress, De Lima has committed to continue her fight against extrajudicial killings and other human rights abuses under the Duterte regime.
