De Lima on sedition charge: Pure hogwash!

Opposition Senator Leila M. de Lima today belittled as "pure hogwash" the sedition case filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) against her and other personalities in connection with the "Bikoy" videos.

"Pure hogwash, pure hogwash yung mga kaso na naman yan. Basura yun," she said in an ambush interview before the hearing of the trumped-up charges filed by the administration at Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 205.

"Basura, mas basura pa iyan siguro kaysa sa mga isinampang kaso sa akin," she added, referring to the trumped up drug cases, while her police escorts were trying to prevent her from speaking further.

De Lima was among those charged by the CIDG of inciting to sedition, cyber libel, libel and obstruction of justice.

Also charged were Vice President Leni Robredo, Sen. Risa Hontiveros; former Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Bam Aquino; and Otso Diretso senatorial candidates Chel Diokno, Florin Hilbay, Gary Alejano, Romulo Macalintal, Samira Gutoc and Erin Tañada.

The CIDG also filed charges against other personalities, including Frs. Flaviano Villanueva, Albert Alejo, Robert Reyes, and Bishops Honesto Ongtioco, Teodoro Bacani Jr, Pablo Virgilio David, and Socrates Villegas; and former Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro.

During the ambush interview, De Lima questioned how the CIDG managed to file the said cases without the benefit of any proper investigation.

"Hindi ko alam kung paano nag-imbestiga ang CIDG. They're supposed to have subpoena powers now, right?" she pointed out.

De Lima, a former justice secretary, added that the cases filed by the CIDG do not have any semblance of a decent and professional investigative work.

As the staunchest critic of the government's campaign against illegal drugs, De Lima has maintained her innocence from all the trumped-up charges fabricated by the administration using perjured and coerced witnesses.
