Bong Go visits Novaliches fire victims, urges to utilize the free services of Malasakit Center

Right after the opening of the 46th Malasakit Center at the Novaliches District Hospital, Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go proceeded to an evacuation site in Novaliches where fire victims of a recent incident are temporarily located.

Go distributed food packs, groceries, cash assistance and construction materials to 27 affected families. He also offered school supplies and uniform to students so they could attend back to their classes right away.

The senator also brought with him representatives of different government agencies, such as the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). These agencies will assess and provide the needed assistance to the fire victims.

On the other hand, Go also urged to the fire victims to have themselves checked at the Novaliches District Hospital and avail of the free services through the Malasakit Center.

Kapag nagkasakit kayo, lapitan niyo lang yung Malasakit Center. Libre po yan, pera niyo po yan," Go shared.

The senator has also been pushing for the institutionalization of the Malasakit Center through the Malasakit Center Act of 2019 he filed earlier this year in the Senate.

Pera niyo po yan, binabalik lang po sa inyo," he reiterated adding that an express lane for senior citizens and people with disabilities is already in place.

Halimbawa, senior citizen si Philip Salvador, 'yan di na kailangan pumila," Go joked trying to lift the spirits of the fire victims.

The senator also offered that he will support those who need assistance for their special health cases.

Go also offered to pay the fare of those who want to go home to their provinces where life is better. He encouraged them to do so because of congestion in the metro.

Meanwhile, Go also shared that he filed a bill that would postpone the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to 2022, providing barangay captains ample time to continue and finish their programs for the community. He also told barangay officials present not to abandon those who are in need, particularly the victims of fire, in exchange for his efforts in pushing for the bill.

Usapan yan ha?," Go said.
