Villar helps combat poor sanitation and spearheads clean - up and mangrove planting in Baseco: Senator Cynthia A. Villar, chair of the Senate Environmental committee, gives 300 toilets bowls to households in Gasangan, Barangay 649 in Baseco to address the problem of poor sanitation, which has been made worse by the practice of open defecation due to the lack of toilet facilities. The senator also leads tree-planting a nearby mangrove area to ensure the continuous flow of water in the vicinity to prevent the onset of water-borne diseases. DOH NCR Asst. Regional Director Paz Corales (in gray blouse) and Manila Rep. Crystal Bagatsing (in red jacket) also joined the senator in the distribution of toilet facilities. Bagatsing was also with Villar in the tree-planting.
