How safe are our workplaces?: The Senate Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development starts its public hearing Monday, September 23, on the implementation of Republic Act No. 11058 or An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) which imposes fines for violation of safety standards. The committee, chaired by Sen. Joel Villanueva (right), also tackled Senate Bill No. 294, “An Act Providing for Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Workers and Talents in the Movie and Television Industry,” otherwise known as “Eddie Garcia Bill” filed by Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla (left). Members of movie and television industries complained the lack of occupational standards, especially the safety of stuntmen, veteran actors and reporters covering conflict areas and disasters. Also in photo is Senator Grace Poe (center). (PRIB Photo by Alex Nuevaespaña/23 September 2019)
