SENATOR MAR ROXAS ON CORRUPTION SURVEY BY PULSE ASIA

"I urge the Arroyo administration not to shrug off the findings of this survey. Instead, it must work towards reversing how the people perceive the government's sincerity in this key governance issue.

"I humbly put forward the following areas where the administration can start walking the talk and hardening its resolve against corruption:

"1. Release the NEDA-ICC Documents on the National Broadband Network project so the public could see how their government approved this major project.

"2. Bring Joc-Joc Bolante home to face the music in the proper venues, whether the Senate or the courts, and to make sure that the fertilizer fund scam will finally be resolved.

"3. Cancel all foreign loans that are associated with questionable big-ticket projects, including those for the P25-billion Cyber-Ed.

"4. Go after the bigtime smugglers and tax evaders, sparing no political sacred cow in the process.

"Let the administration also prove itself by ensuring zero leakages in the P1.3-trillion National Budget for 2008.

"Unless the people see visible improvements in the quality of governance, this survey result will be a never-ending refrain. The people will only be further estranged from their government.

"May duda ang tao tungkol sa paglakas ng ekonomiya dahil di nila ito nadarama. Pero natitiyak nila ang tungkol sa sobrang korapsyon dahil ito ang kanilang nakikita, nababalitaan at nararanasan.

"Matatalino ang Pinoy, tama lang na siya ay pakinggan at seryosohin ng mga nakaupo sa puwesto."
